New term!

Happy New Year! May 2014 bring you all that you hope for and some pleasant surprises too!

It has been a promising start to the New Year for Cardiff Met psychology staff as we began the year with a planning day. This was our first chance to reflect on our current activities and to consider future plans in line with Corporate and School plans. The day began with a talk to the whole school given by the Vice-Chancellor, the Chair of the Board of Governors and the Chief Operating Officer on the strategic direction of the university – an appropriate start to our departmental planning day.

A date for all our diaries: March 21st; this is the date for our first ever Student Conference. The full day event will be for all years to take part, and will include a visiting speaker, a volunteering fair and careers information. Information about the day will be with you all shortly!
Social activities for students this term will begin with a Film Night on Tuesday 18th February. The film will be the 2010 thriller Inception starring Leonardo di Caprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page.

Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. (Warner Brothers).
